Kim KristensenLyrical, poetic landscapes mix with temperamental, shimmering cascades of tones that frolic in the magnificent acoustics of the five-towered church from the 13th century on this album recorded in 2024 0g 2025. The idea for the title “Vor Frie Fruer” comes from the fact that the music was recorded in Vor Frue Church in Kalundborg and because the music is completely freely improvised. It comes easily to the two musicians to communicate in an open, unbound idiom thanks to a collaboration that extends over about 4 decades. Tonight I played my first ever public concert all by myself!
Just me and a wonderful Steinway piano in a beautiful church.
That's a pretty cool setting for a debut if you ask me!
I am working on an album for solo piano, and this was a great opportunity to play some of the pieces from the album.
I was extremely delighted when I realized that more than 200 people showed up for the concert, creating a wonderful atmosphere!
It really was an amazing audience, and I owe everyone who came a big THANK YOU!!
For the encore I was joined by Josefine Dalsgaard on violin, and we performed the Waltz from 'Images of Winter'. Josefine was a surprise, and played the part from the organ-balcony at the back of the church. It worked really well, and I could feel the audience being delighted by the sudden appearance of her!
I really think I'll do more solo-piano concerts in 2026, as my music seem to work well for the format.
I really couldn't be happier with tonight!

Kim KristensenHviskende Varder (Whispering Cairns) The Whispering Cairns sextet, featuring Rosalba Bentivoglio, is now releasing their third album, “Celestial Dreams”. We were lucky to have the Sicilian singer Rosalba Bentivoglio as a guest, who has written lyrics for most of the compositions. Improv music, electronic music in a loving embrace with classical chamber music. We get lost in surreal soundscapes and float through spherical sound fogs, but the cairns show the way. The cairns are stones stacked on top of each other by human hands over the centuries. They stand like whispering sculptures in a barren and desolate landscape, saving the hiker from the abyss and certain death. The cairns are landmarks for those who hike in the mountains when the fog suddenly comes or when darkness hides the alluringly beautiful but dramatic and fateful rocky landscape. Årh nogle gange kan jeg næsten ikke med ord beskrive, hvor meget det løfter sangene, når der kommer strygere på ... og så var det, at jeg kom i tanke om, at nyhedsbrevet her er det perfekte sted at dele lyden af det hele med dig. Jeg har derfor lavet et lille udpluk af drømmende, sprøde, episke strygersekvenser fra albummet, som du får lov til at høre helt eksklusivt herinde (albummet udkommer nemlig først i 2026).
